You deserve the best that modern dentistry has to offer. That is why The DentaLink offices in Ballwin and St. Louis, MO are equipped with a variety of technology, including dental lasers. These versatile devices are used in many procedures, often reducing treatment time, improving results, and making the entire process more comfortable for our patients.
Lasers harness the power of controlled light energy. This technology is extremely versatile, because the wavelength and strength of light determines how it interacts with a specific substance. One laser might be powerful enough to cut through bone, while another is so gentle you would not feel it on your skin. It all depends on the design. What all good lasers have in common is precision and predictability.

What is laser dentistry?
Hello, my name is Dr. Allan Link, and I’m a member of the DentaLink I personally have been using lasers in my dental practice since 2006.
We have three different wavelengths: the Erbium, the Nd:YAG, and a wavelength of 810 nanometers.
What treatments are lasers used in?
We use our Erbium which is particularly good for hard tissue. We can do some fillings very conservatively without anesthetic.
The other thing that we use the Erbium for in conjunction with the Nd:YAG is for gum surgery.
Another thing that we can use the Erbium as well as the Nd:YAG on a lot of children, as well as adults, are tongue ties.
We use our laser when we do our root canals, which has been a game changer.
What are other uses of lasers in dentistry?
Our newest laser is called photobiomodulation. What this does is promotes healing.
Anytime I take a tooth out, I do a root canal, a large procedure of any sort will use this laser for a few seconds, and it helps promote a lot less postoperative discomfort and faster healing.
Another thing that we are using it for in seeing results is trigeminal neuralgia as well as joint pain TMJ joint pain.
What are the benefits of laser dentistry?
Laser surgery means no suture, no bleeding, very little postoperative discomfort, and healings faster with a laser.
It’s fascinating what a few treatments with this can be helpful when drugs and other things never seem to work.
If you come to the DentaLink, we love our lasers because it’s a fun game changer.
